These documents are scanned from my old (water damaged) notebook that I kept while I worked on the final version of the Mission. Each page shows a different transfer type whose design I improved over the 5 years I competed in Science Olympiads.
Heat Transfer: The Mission could receive points for the use of up to 6 heat transfers. This design enabled the transfer to proceed extremely fast which, in turn, allowed for accurate timing of the device (the closer to 1 min of execution time, the more points the device receive).
This transfer works by heating up a NiChrome wire that melts a piece of string. The string is holding a switch closed, so when it is broken, it releases the switch.
