Meal: Flank steak, German potato salad, Garden Salad
Source: Mom
Time to prepare: 2 hours

Recipe:

Dish: German Potato Salad
Ingredients:

1lb bacon
3 tablespoons flour
4 teaspoons chopped onion
2/3 cup vinegar
2/3 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
4 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
6 small red baking potatoes

Preparation:

Fry bacon until crisp. Remove from pan, drain and crumble. Add flour and onion to the bacon fat left in the pan. Stir in vinegar, water, sugar, salt and spices. Cook only until mixture is of medium thickness. Add to potatoes and crumbled bacon. Mix carefully to prevent mashing the potatoes.

Dish: Flank Steak marinated in Italian Salad Dressing
Ingredients:

1 large (3 lb flank steak)
1 Cruet Italian Salad Dressing

Preparation:

Marinate steak in salad dressing over night. Grill over charcoal to taste.

Dish: Baked Potatoes
Ingredients:

6 (or however many you need) large Baking Potatoes (Idaho variety)

Preparation:

Scrub each potato and then poke many holes with a knife. Cook the potatoes in a 400 deg. oven for 1 hour (1 1/2 hours for very large potatoes).

Notes:

Requires several large pans for the potato salad. First time we made the potatoes, the larger ones didn't cook entirely through; 1 1/2 hours works great for large ones. Be careful that the thinner parts of the flank steak don't become well done. Steak takes about 5 minutes per side on charcoal for medium.

The meal, as seen on the table.
My plate. I can't believe the meat came out properly done (we had issues with the charcoal).
