I learned how to scuba dive in 2002 with my boy scout troop as a venturing activity. My dad and my brother also participated in the classes, so now we are all PADI certified and avid fans of this awesome sport. We invested (heavily) in gear, and since we already have a boat, we can dive anytime. Unfortunatly the Long Island Sound is not the world's most pristine dive attraction. Visiblity is on average 3-5 feet, sometimes worse. We have been fortunate enough to go on some pretty awesome trips. We performed our open water dives at Dutch Springs (Bethlaham, Pennsylvania), which is an abandoned quarry turned scuba Mecca. We then had the good furtune of traveling to Cozumel Mexico, one the worlds best dive locations. We also dove in Lake George, NY and many times in the Long Island Sound. If you can get used to the minimal visibility and coldness of the Sound, anywhere else is paradise! I decided if I created an online dive log I would be more inclined to utilize it than a paper one.
